Bio Pics, Yeeeech!

Me

So I’m supposed to be providing a bio pic for a publication. Sure, I say. No problem. Give me a while so that I can take an updated one, I say. But I forgot one thing: Bio pics suck. A lot. In a world where most people will never meet me face to face, all they’ll know are a few words here and there, and a picture. The less geeky, the better! Which, in my case, is practically impossible. But if I’ve learned one thing, it’s that you can’t do these things alone. No, sir! Thank goodness the friendly neighborhood junior high girls came marching over to my house. They eyed each picture carefully, and declared that this red one should be my blog pic, and narrowed the bio picture down to two. Then I took pictures of them for their Facebook profiles, and we talked about why Nick is cuter than Kevin or whatever, and a good time was had by all.

Three of my poems were accepted for the Terror of the Miskatonic Falls anthology! I’m pretty excited. I think that my poetry is improving a little bit. I’m beginning to find my poetic voice, which is vastly different than my prose voice. It’s a little bit like being schizophrenic. It’s exactly like being a Pisces.

  1. Great Pic! I don’t know why you worry — you always have these great pictures with interesting expressions that totally capture you. Sexy, mysterious, a thinker, a little quirky, how do you manage to get a picture to say all that?!

  2. Unrelated to your bio picture (which is great, by the way): I just read “Keeping it Light”, and was genuinely blown away by it. Incredible. Just incredible.

Literally, I’m clicking away to my blog this very instant, and I’m gonna delete all links to my fiction.

I know that’s flaky, but your story was THAT good.

  3. This is kind of like a weird, slow chat, but I’m cool with that.

Yeah, I hang out at Carrie’s. I followed you from the Madlib query fiasco.

I seriously deleted a couple of my short story links, Mercedes, I wasn’t joking about that. (I call that section of my sidebar “obsolete fiction”, and that’s no joke either. They’re old and awful, and now that I think about it, they should probably all be scrubbed.)

Heh. It’s like every sentence I type here makes me sound flakier and flakier.

    Must be true.

  4. Have I ever told you that you remind me of that lab girl on NCIS? You really do. She’s very lovable. I don’t know one person who doesn’t like her character. She’s awesome! That was a roundabout way of saying you’re awesome. In case people weren’t following that.

    (Nick and Kevin—what?)

We’re going to have to figure something out, Mercedes! Somehow. Something easy, convenient for the both of us, and something more… timely. Where we both see it almost right away. Something of that sort, anyway.
