Yay, I’m as Superior as the Other 672 of You!

super-scribbler-award21

Thanks to Jeremy D. Brooks, Natalie L. Sin, and Jameson T. Caine for hooking me up with the Superior Scribbler award!  People who use their middle initials all stick together, says Mercedes M. Yardley.  Here are the rules:

Each Superior Scribbler must in turn pass The Award on to 5 most-deserving Bloggy Friends.
Each Superior Scribbler must link to the author & the name of the blog from whom he/she has received The Award.
Each Superior Scribbler must display The Award on his/her blog, and link to this post which explains The Award. Each Superior Scribbler adds his/her name to the Mr. Linky List. That way, we’ll be able to keep up-to-date on everyone who receives This Prestigious Honor!

I hereby bestow this illustrious award on:

Mason and billie.  Mason writes amazing mind blowing novels and billie does short stories where the characters have ephemeral, perfect names.  They manage to work everything in around playing shows and photoshoots.  Plus their baby wears legwarmers.

Iseult Murphy, a horror writer from Ireland.  I ran across her when I googled my name a while ago, and thankfully she was saying nice things.  Her blog is quite fascinating.

My friend Janyece, who writes, sings, talks politics, raises two kids, lives with a smart aleck husband, and moves around constantly.  She just finished her first novel, hooray!   We’ve known each other since we were three.

Ken Wood, who is a strange, strange man.  He writes awesome stuff, and calls you on all of your typos and misspellings.  He hates to be called “Editor”.  Swing by Shock Totem and support his new magazine.  They’re sweet…er, horrific people.  Yeah.

Shad Boots. When he gets around to writing, it’s pretty awesome. We need to do another challenge!

Wow, that was a lot of linking and stuff.  In other news, I received my money for the On the Premises contest today, so I’m picking up my sewing machine tonight!  I am so excited, and already have about five projects lined up for myself.

The On The Premises editors were absolutely great to work with.  They were professional, of course, but also fun and friendly.  Tarl Roger Kudrick and I had a discussion about names (although, come on.  Tarl beats Mercedes hands down!  There’s even a website devoted to people named Tarl) and Bethany Granger perked up when I mentioned that I was getting a sewing machine.  She wished me luck.  The best part, though, was the fact that I incorporated most of their edits, but there were a few changes that I didn’t want to make.  And although Tarl basically wrote a thesis statement backed up by three points explaining why he didn’t like the way I wanted to do it, he still stood down because it was my story.  (Hear that, Jake Freivald?  Askance, I say!  😛  Haha, Jake was still the most enjoyable editor that I ever worked with.  Even if I was totally right.)  So thanks to Tarl and Bethany, who made editing (which I abhor) a great experience.  I even learned things, to boot.

Things in my Google history: Fireworks gallery Seattle, Joachim, Hedwig Angry Inch Vegas, adult footie pajamas, Timothy 4:12, ballet slippers pattern, Super Special Awesome

  1. Yes, I *do* hear that, not because I’m stalking you, of course, but thanks to the power of Google Alerts. And, through the power of the Internet, we crowdsourced (see? I used jargon, so I must be right) a change to “Ray” that gave you “askance” back, even though it’s clear that I’m right and the rest of the entire world has serious issues. My ego^h^h^hmagnanimity knows no bounds.

  2. Okay, I have always loved the name Mercedes, but I do have to agree that Tarl is just a very cool name! James would never go for it though. lol! I’m lucky I got Xander!

  3. I am honored to be awarded. I bow with a flourish.
Ok… enough time away from working on my book, off I go.

    🙂

perhaps i too should insert a middle initial…
