Too Wonderful! Avert Thine Eyes!

Throwing Rocks

Feast or famine, that’s the writer’s life.  After months and months of “Why?!”  and “Is this worth it?!” and slogging on, a whole bunch of positive things hit really fast.  And it isn’t just with writing, but also Life.  That’s pretty fantastic.

Perhaps the best news is that we’re getting my son in to see a Williams Syndrome specialist.  Well, not just A specialist, but THE specialist.  She heard about his unusual symptoms and wants to meet him.  This could change our lives, and he deserves this.  I can’t tell you how pleased this makes me.  It’s for research purposes, so not only will this greatly benefit my kiddo, but it’ll help every other person out there that has this wonderfully bizarre syndrome.  I can’t stop smiling.  🙂

Also, there’s been a flurry of positive writing news lately.  Thanks for all of your nice words and congratulations.  It means a lot.

Mason (of Atlas Takes Aim) performed The Song, which was fantastic and extremely catchy.  We’ll video it soon and upload it to this blog.  The story behind that is here.

Also, I got some great feedback and supportive comments concerning my novel.  Thanks again for that.  I can’t believe that you plowed through it so quickly!  You read it in, what, a night?

And to top it all off, I received a partial request yesterday!  How thrilling!  Just when I was lamenting my query…AGAIN.  I have actually been called “query challenged”.  Which is funny, and right on.  I completely accept it.

Have a great day, everybody!

  1. Thanks for the well wishes, you awesome people! Go, Team Us!

Oh, Cate, these were things that I was googling, not ways that people found me. Which is good, I suppose. I’m not sure how I’d feel about being found a la “Tinkerbell stickers”. >>

  2. Cool about your son. I truly hope they are able to do something wonderful for your family.

And I know you never asked for my feedback on your novel, but I found it so amazing that I just couldn’t hold back. And now that I’ve read it, I’d like to take another look at your query. That okay with you?

  3. Ray, I loved your feedback. Like I said, you picked up on the same things that I was worried about. And who doesn’t want to hear the nice things that you said? I might print that out and sleep with it under my pillow!

Tear that query apart! It’s polished, but maybe too polished. It doesn’t have any of the novel’s voice, and I think that perhaps it should.

  4. I know… it took me forever to unveil The Song.
I am very glad you liked it. 🙂 It is a song handcrafted for you after all.
(little bow and a tip of the hat in a foppish manner) (yeah.. i just wanted to say “foppish”)

  5. Great news, and I love the picture of Nikko. He looks so contemplative. I haven’t seen him in a while. I really hope the research benefits him.
